No. 1 Oklahoma swept No. 7 Oklahoma State this weekend to finish the regular season with an overall record of 48-1 (17-1 in conference). After winning handily in the first two games of the series (by scores of 7-1 and 6-0), the Sooners faced more of a challenge in Game 3. OU trailed 2-1 after four and one-half innings, before getting a grand-slam homer from Jocelyn Alo (video). The Cowgirls scored one in the top of the sixth to close within 5-3 and there was no further scoring.
If Oklahoma can go undefeated in next week's conference tournament and then all the way through the NCAA tournament, it will set the record for fewest losses en route to a Women's College World Series title. The 1992 UCLA team holds the record at 54-2.
