TeamsGame 1Game 2Game 3
Alabama (16) at Florida (1)*AlabamaFlorida
Baylor (15) at Arizona (2)**Arizona

Kentucky (14) at Oregon (3)**Oregon
LSU (13) at Florida State (4)**FSU

**Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary).

Oklahoma at Auburn underway. Sooners leave bases loaded in top of first, without scoring... Auburn does the same in the bottom of the second... Oklahoma is leading 2-0, top 6, and has the bases loaded with two out... Pop to 2B ends threat... Final score is 4-0 Sooners...

Florida State leads LSU 1-0, bottom 4... After Tigers tie the game in the top of the fifth on this slide, Noles put two across in bottom of sixth; final is 3-1...

Texas A&M and Tennessee are just beginning... Vols lead 3-0 in the bottom of the third; can blow it open with bases loaded and none out... 6-0 Tennessee, still bases loaded, still none out... 8-1 Vols is the final...

Kentucky at Oregon underway... Ducks take 1-0 lead... Oregon threatening to open up some daylight, with bases loaded and none out, bottom 6... Ground-out to first advances UO runners a base each, making score 2-0... Ground-out to short brings in another run, 3-0 Ducks... (Apparent) error on grounder to short makes it 4-0... UK retired uneventfully in top 7, 4-0 is your final...

Two-run shot from Amanda Lorenz has Florida on top of Alabama, 2-0, top 3... Still 2-0 as Bama bats in bottom of seventh. Tide, down to final out, gets runner on first via grounder to short, as ump rules throw pulled 1B-person off the bag; replay shows 1B-person's foot still was on bag, but evidently no replay appeals... All moot, as next batter grounds out to pitcher... Gators even the series...

Arizona up 1-zip over Baylor, bottom 2, Wildcats with a runner on second with none out. No more scoring in this at-bat for U of A... However, Wildcats add a run in third on Katiyana Mauga's 92nd career homer to make it 2-0... Home-run record is 95 by Lauren Chamberlain... With the score still 2-0, top 6, Baylor puts together a triple and homer (by Ari Hawkins) to tie the score, 2-2... Same score, with Arizona batting in bottom of seventh; runners on first and second after walk to Mauga, none out... Sharp single to left loads bases... Line single to center wins it for Wildcats, 3-2...

UCLA up 1-zip on Ole Miss, but Rebels get lead-off runner on first in bottom of second... A Bruin throwing error gives Ole Miss runners on second and third with one out... Nice catch in left for UCLA saves a run... Infield pop-up ends Rebel threat... Mississippi down to its final three outs, as it comes up in the bottom of the seventh, trailing 1-0... Rebels go down quietly, Bruins become first team to qualify for Women's College World Series...

Washington takes early 5-0 lead over Utah, aided substantially by first-inning three-run homer...   Utes get back into game in top of fourth with their own three-run blast... Huskies trying to pad their 5-3 lead in bottom of fourth, with runners on first and second and one out... Walk loads the bases... Morganne Flores, who homered earlier for Washington, trying to do it again... She does, adding a grand-slam to her earlier three-run shot! 9-3 Huskies...

Pitching Star NiJaree Canady Reportedly in the Transfer Portal

Stanford pitching ace NiJaree Canady has reportedly entered the transfer portal ( link ), having completed two seasons in the circle for the Cardinal. Stanford has made the WCWS in both of Canady's seasons on the team. Another school hit hard by the transfer portal is the University of Washington, with an exodus of eight Huskies . This list of the top ten players in the portal includes four from UW. Today is the final day of the 30-day window for players to enter the portal.

NiJaree Canady Transferring to -- of All Places -- Texas Tech

NiJaree Canady, whose sub-1.00 ERA helped lead Stanford to the Women's College World Series in both her years with the Cardinal, announced on July 24 that she is transferring to Texas Tech. I've lived in Lubbock for 27 years and can say that the town has been improving with a greater selection of restaurants and shops, and a new downtown performing arts center. Likewise, nice new facilities have been dotting the Texas Tech campus . Still, it seems unlikely that Canady would have become a Red Raider without the $1 million annual Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal for her, made possible by the donation of a Texas Tech alumni couple. So stunning an event is this, even in the ever-changing world of collegiate athletics, that the New York Times  even ran a behind-the-scenes story on Canady's path to Texas Tech. I look forward to being in the stands to watch Canady pitch next spring, an opportunity I never expected to have.

Jordy Bahl Transferring from Oklahoma to Nebraska

The college softball world has thrown us a "Curve Bahl," if you will. Such is the unexpected news that Oklahoma ace Jordy Bahl has announced that she will transfer to the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Bahl is from the Omaha suburb of Papillion, Nebraska. Three thoughts jump out at me: Bahl was absolutely indispensable to the Sooners' 61-1 national championship season, coming up with numerous clutch strikeouts in tight tournament games against Clemson (super-regionals, Game 2 ) and Stanford ( WCWS semifinals ).    OU benefited greatly this season via the transfer portal, bringing in Haley Lee  from Texas A&M,  Alex Storako from Michigan, and Cydney Sanders and Alynah Torres from Arizona State. Bahl's transfer is the first major one in the modern portal era (to my knowledge) in the other direction. Nebraska becomes an instant national championship contender, in my mind. Other players around the country may find it attractive to join Bahl in Lincoln but even if
