Two games have been completed on Saturday afternoon and, in both cases, the team needing a win to survive got one. Baylor beat Florida, 5-2, and Missouri defeated Duke, 3-1, forcing decisive Game-3 matchups on Sunday... For Baylor, Shaylon Govan's three-run blast in the bottom of the first (video) produced more runs than Florida scored the entire game (2), but the Bears added single runs in the second and sixth for some cushion... Mizzou scored all three of its runs in T4, based on three consecutive singles and a Duke throwing error on the third single that allowed not only the runner from second but also the runner from first to score and enabled the batter to go all the way to third (from which she scored on a later at-bat)...
Stanford shuts out LSU 3-0 to force a deciding game tomorrow. The Cardinal's NiJaree Canady rebounds from her poor outing Friday night to record a gem (7.0 innings pitched, 9 strikeouts, allowing only 2 hits and 3 walks).
Oklahoma State opens up T1 with walk, followed by Tallen Edwards two-run homer... Double, single, and wild pitch yield a third run for Cowgirls... B1, Arizona rallies back with double, passed ball, single for a run... Another Wildcat single for first and third and none out... K for first out... Liner into double-play ends Arizona threat, 3-1 Cowgirls... OSU boosts lead to 7-1, B4... Cowgirls finish off the Wildcats, 10-4, after a rain/lightning delay and will advance to the Women's College World Series...
Texas and Texas A&M underway... 2-0 Aggies on Jazmine Hill two-run dinger, B2... Now 3-1 A&M T4... Aggie lead up to 5-1, B5. Trinity Cannon, who hit two homers for A&M yesterday, adds a two-run shot today... Horns with two in T6 to cut their deficit to 5-3... Texas sixth-inning rally continues, with score now tied 5-5... Still only one out in T6, with Horns having runner on second... Single drives in lead run for Texas, 6-5... Aggies finally get out of the T6... Longhorns add two in T7 to lead 8-5... Aggies down to final out in B7, with runner on second... Single gives A&M runners at the corners with two out, tying run at the plate... And tie it is exactly what Mya Perez does, sending a moonshot to center! Per the ESPN graphic, it's Perez's first homer ever! Next batter walks... Longhorn pitching change, Mac Morgan for Estelle Czech... Texas gets out of inning on fielder's choice... T8, Aggies-Longhorns contest becomes second extra-inning game of the day... Texas wastes single and walk in T8, A&M goes quietly in B8... T9, Longhorns take 9-8 lead on some really small ball: bunt single, steal, advancing on a ground out, and then beating an erratic throw home on an infield grounder... 9-8 is your final, so the teams will play a deciding game tomorrow.
Tennessee-Alabama underway... Tied 1-1 after two complete... The Vols scored their run in T2, but left the bases loaded at the end of that inning... Now 2-1 Tennessee T4 after Sophia Nugent's deep solo-shot (over a second wall behind the left-field bleachers)! Bama answers with a solo homer to left B4, courtesy of Bailey Dowling. Now 2-2... Still 2-2 as we go to the seventh... Vols with a runner on first and two out in the top half... Ground-out ends the half-inning... Tide goes quietly in B7, on to extras... T8, leadoff walk for Tennessee... Pop-up for first out... Fly-out to warning track in center, two outs... HBP gives Vols runners on first and second... Grounder to second ends T8... B8 starts off with controversial HBP call, as Bama batter, with 0-2 count, appeared to be swinging while hit... Turns out judgment of whether a swing occurred is not reviewable, so runner on first... Infield hit on hard grounder to third, which fielder slows down but cannot make play on... Tide with runners on first and second and none out... K for first out... Another K for second out... Grounder to second ends threat... T9, pop-up for first Vol out... Infield hit for Tennessee as 2B-person makes nice stop on hard-hit grounder, but desperation toss to first not in time... Runner steals second (Bama challenges whether runner left first too soon, but initial call upheld)... Grounder back to circle for second out, but Vol runner advances to third... Fly to right ends Tennessee threat... B9, two-out HBP gives Tide runner... K for third out... T10, Vols go quietly... B10, uneventful for Alabama... T11, one-out single to right for Tennessee... Ground-out to SS, runner advances to second... Intentional walk to Kiki Milloy, who has three hits on the day... Foul-out (3B side of field) ends Tennessee threat... B11, Bama down quietly... T12, one-out HBP for Tennessee... Pop-up for second out... Tide misplays foul pop to first-base side of field, as ball lands between two players. We'll see if this comes back to haunt Alabama... K for third out, so foul flub irrelevant... B12, Bama leadoff hitter Riley Valentine drives one off the top of the wall in right-center, but thrown out going for double... K for second out... Infield single for Bama... Runner steals second (replay review on whether batter interfered with catcher, but ESPN announcers seem skeptical; review officials concur that there was no interference)... Winning run for Bama in scoring position... Runner out trying to steal third, but umps meeting to discuss... Original call of "out" will apparently stand, ending threat... Runner slid in on LF side of 3B bag, as fielder had ball to block the base... T13, game is now the longest super-regional contest ever, since format began in 2005... Vols with a runner on first with two outs... Walk gives Tennessee runners at first and second, but fly to right for third out... B13, two outs for Bama, both on grounders to the pitcher... HBP... 3-0 count on next batter, then walk on next pitch, putting runners on first and second... Tennessee pitcher Karlyn Pickens, for all her effective pitching, is getting a little wild... Just as I say that, Pickens gets K to end threat... With game heading into T14, we'll now have as many innings of overtime as of regulation play! One-out single and HBP give Vols a threat... Force at second on grounder, now runners at the corners with two out for Tennessee... HBP to load bases... After count goes to 3-1 and then 3-2, Vol batter grounds out to end threat... B14, Bama gets single, double (by Valentine who had earlier baserunning blunder), IBB, followed by chopper to SS, whose throw home is late. Crimson Tide wins 3-2 to even up the series...
